Hmm. I don’t think I’ve heard about the new vocal for LD before. And honestly, I wasn’t even listening to that part of it. I was more focused on the instrumentation.tragabigzanda wrote:Lost Dogs version is the same B-side instrumental, but with a new vocal, and then remixed.wease wrote:I don’t buy the notion the b-side U is different from the Lost Dogs version. The drums are exactly the same. I actually don’t think Matt is on it at all. I don’t know if this is unpopular, but Riot Act is my favorite b-side era.

the music is the same than in the single but the vocals and lyrics are different. The U single is about being in love while the LD is the breakup song.wease wrote:Hmm. I'd never realised how different the LD version of U was from the original. Ed sounds very different. And LD version has got to be Matt drumming - not as good as Jack's effort sadly.

I talked about this ad nauseum when LD first came out. It didn't get much traction then either.wease wrote:I’m gonna have to do this back-to-back thing again. The only thing I remember talking about around that time was people thinking Dave A played on Hold On because the liner notes said it was recorded during the Vs sessions. It was obvious it was Krusen just by listening but some couldn’t accept the liner notes could be wrong.epilogue wrote:I talked about this ad nauseum when LD first came out. Sad is the best song on LD and probably the best song they ever kept off an album.epilogue wrote:We're talking about U/You, not Hold On!wease wrote:The only thing I remember talking about around that time was people thinking Dave A played on Hold On because the liner notes said it was recorded during the Vs sessions. So is that Matt on the Lost Dogs version of "U" or not? Because I've pretty much based my entire personality on Jack's performance on the original b-side version being far superior to Matt's performance on the Lost Dogs version. And now you're telling me that not only are they both Jack, but they're the exact same performance? Aye yai yai!
