Re: UNPOPULAR PEARL JAM OPINIONS
hahah they are the EXACT same drum take by the EXACT same drummer. you have matt-derangement syndrome, bro.igotworms wrote:I'd never realised how different the LD version of U was from the original. Ed sounds very different. And LD version has got to be Matt drumming - not as good as Jack's effort sadly.
the only difference in the instrumental is the lost dogs version is slightly slower.
this is both versions panned left and right, with the lost dogs version sped up. i call it "pearl jam - youse".

Why are you wasting time and effort arguing about U/You? Possibly the worst song in the catalog

The drums are exactly the same. I actually don’t think Matt is on it at all. The fills sound much more like Jack fills than Matt fills and the whole groove of the tune swings more like Jack than Matt.
Its pretty brilliant.

I literally listened to them back to back on YouTube and the drumming sounded noticeably different but now I'm questioning my ears and sanity.Farmer John wrote:So is that Matt on the Lost Dogs version of "U" or not? Because I've pretty much based my entire personality on Jack's performance on the original b-side version being far superior to Matt's performance on the Lost Dogs version. And now you're telling me that not only are they both Jack, but they're the exact same performance? Aye yai yai!

OK listened to them again on YT and while the sound of the drums is quite different (remaster? different upload quality?) you're absolutely right - same drumming. Well well well.

The drumming on U I’ve always loved, the vocals not to much. Eddie seems sleepy on it.
Keep on rockin’ in the free world.

Re: UNPOPULAR PEARL JAM OPINIONS
Amongst the Waves is not a song that warrants a strong opinion. Future Days is the worst Pearl Jam song - there's no question about it.
