I’d given up the D+ sub. Just too expensive and I wasn’t ever even watching anything on it.

Loved Nosferatu. What a fun movie. I thought it nailed the perfect tone. Just the right amount of campy fun mixed in with all the gloomy dread. Excellent tonal balance. Pretty remarkable in the visual department as well.

that's kind of the joy of following Soderbergh though, right? You know it will be somewhere between interesting and amazing, but never boring.

He's definitely had a few like that.
But, yeah, all snark aside, there are some cool ideas in it. It just doesn't work overall. At less than 90 mins, it's easy to focus on some of the cooler aspects, too. Which is good. To your point, it's hard to fault/criticize a guy who takes so many interesting swings -- or at least, it's not as much fun for me.

When I hear him talk, I get the sense he's just as interested in the business of movie making as he is in the craft. Like half the reward for him is pulling the deal together and finding the funding and distribution mechanism just to make whatever he feels like making.
Which is pretty cool, if that's the case. More people like that, please.
he is a very odd case. I was surprised he did so many movies, lots of them were box offices disappointments and yet he continued to film a movie a year sometimes. He is sure an industry type of guy, thats why he still makes whatever he wants, which is pretty good.
I just wish he was more consistent and have more of a voice, or an more interesting aesthetic.
