My understanding is the RTO order may be quite difficult to actually implement. Office space has been sold, lots of positions have been reclassified from being remote in preparation for this, etc. So Trump's hand may be forced to sweeten the deal.

Or he'll just abandon it cuz it's too hard/complicated and there won't be another wave at all. Also, cooler heads prevailing on both sides, making this a distant memory by spring.

I’m reading there’s a statutory max payout of $25k. Plus Trump has no real control of the budget with a narrow house and a slew of policies that are sure to be unpopular; and an inconvenient history of not paying people what they’re owed.

A handful of people will take the deal because they were probably already planning to leave. And no doubt the sheer magnitude of his policies will have a huge impact on government spending. But the original RTO order seems to have been an abject failure, so this is the revamp.

Pray there’s not another Covid I guess.

My understanding is it's not really implemented yet, just hastily ordered. Folks around here are still expecting to have to go back but not in the next two weeks.
