Re: What movies are you watching?
The Talented Mr. Ripley. Thanks to The Rewatchables podcast, I remembered I actually loved this movie but haven't seen it in many years. I still love it. Wife loved it too. Easily my favorite Matt Damon and Jude Law performances. The bar isn't very high for them, but they really kill it in these roles. So do Cate Blanchett and Gwyneth Paltrow. Highly recommended to all.

I didn't realize John Malkovich also played Ripley in a sequel released four years later in 2003 called Ripley's Game. It has really good critic reviews but bombed at the box office. I might give it a try soon.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Recent watches include -
Police Story 1&2 - tons of fun. Jackie Chan is incredible.
The Leopard - Italian 19th century period piece starring Burt Lancaster and Alain Delon. This was great. Thought provoking and beautiful.
Demons 1&2 - These were a blast. Gorey and crazy.

"The Girl with the Needle" is a grim and beautiful film
I wasn't sure whether to put it in the horror thread, it definitely has elements
