I was thinking the other day that Dark Matter is like a better version of Backsoacer. Something about the flow and the production value and the punchy tracks and pacing reminds me of it.

Given recent developments I wonder if the instrumental intros in Scared of Fear, Upper Hand and Got to Give and the Waiting For Stevie outro were at one point parts of other songs recycled for use here. Upper Hand intro sounds like it fits the song, but the other two could have been repurposed. The WFS outro has lyrics though which makes me wonder what more there might be from these sessions we haven’t heard.

they've said the WFS bit was from another song. I'm guessing Upper Hand is part of it only because they play it as part of the song.

Closing old tabs on my phone, I inadvertently learned that Stevie is still doing well at radio four months later. Wonder if they’ll put out another one.

If there is another single, it has to be Won't Tell.

revisiting this today after a break

it's even better than it was last time, and each time I listen I'm less irked by my issues with Scared of Fear

a really joyous listen throughout

Comfortable saying my favourite track off this is the dark matter.
It’s almost everything I love about pj. If I could change something it would be just jam it out at the end and get real filthy and let Jeff and Matt go wild most of all.

And why don’t they use the interlude before running as their walk on music before gigs?
It’s ideal for it.
