Agree, but for me that’s a good thing — “B side” is generally a stronger category of Pearl Jam song than “Lightning Bolt” album track.

I love the other version of this song, and absolutely hate keyboards, the keys just add nothing to this song.

I remember some fan reporting back from the LB listening party and describing the chorus as resembling a theme tune from an 80s TV sitcom and I've never been able to shake that. Plus it's another of Ed's "hail the healing power of music" lyrics which is just lazy trite bollocks. 2 stars from me. But far from the worst thing on this album.

This is part two of Eddie’s “Tribute to Shania Twain” with part one being Unemployable.

There's a good song in here somewhere, but it's ruined by the production and the chorus. It's like a much worse Marker in the Sand.

I don't. But I think both songs are great.

After so long I should hardly be surprised but I really can't wrap my head around this.

What’s weird is that I genuinely like ltrp and unemployable may well be in my bottom 5 album tracks. And yet they’re not that different

I think they're pretty different!
LTTP is an overheated bluesy stomp, Unemployable is closer to something like highbrow heartland rock.
Unemployable is just the bees knees. Musically, I think it's one of the best things they've done in the post-Binaural era.
There's this quite refined, austere, cut-glass kind of feel to the guitar work that's pretty unique in the catalogue.

Completely agree about Unemployable. It almost always elicits a replay for me.

Unemployable and Big Wave are probably the two S/T tracks that I revisit most often. Love both of those so much. At this point they're probably my #2 & #3 behind Marker. From that record, obviously.

Bumped it down. Surely an artifact of 2013 new-album optimism.
