Yes, the "2013 mix" is the newer Albini mix with all the caveats listed above, i.e. it's simply intended to highlight what else was on the tapes, it isn't meant to be a replacement for the original album.

Cobbling together a true "Albini mix" of In Utero that is consistent with the band's and Steve's original intent would involve taking the standard album tracks from disc 1 of the 2013 remaster but replacing HSB and AA with the respective 1993 Albini mixes of those songs (which are also on the 2013 remaster). That version is essentially what's on that vinyl reissue discussed upthread.

Why?
All you need is the first disc of the 2013 deluxe, swap two tracks and you've got the original master tape in digital, mastered as Albini had intended.
Swap one track and you've got the Wal-Mart version (oh shit).

20th Anniversary version with Albini mixes - Mastered by Steve Rooke

I haven’t listened to the Rooke version close enough so can’t weigh in. But I love the B2B version because it’s the original master I’ve always loved (Albini fandom be damned), but with Steve’s original mixes for HSH and AA. I’d be interested to hear opinions on the two mastering jobs.

1993 Release = Mastered by Bob Ludwig under Nirvana/Geffen's supervision
Back To Black Release = Mastered by ??? from Albini's first analog master (digital transfer?)
2013 Release = Mastered by Steve Rooke under Albini's supervision
2023 Release = Mastered (badly) by Bob Weston under Nirvana's dumb management's supervision

Back To Black is vinyl only.
The 2013 release has the most dynamics and the most natural sound in digital.

They just carried the liner notes over. This kind of thing happens all the time.
It has zero to do with what actually appears on the record, which was the original tape long before Ludwig poked his ass in.
