Well also curious is a couple random misspellings on the lyric sheet. I love these mysterious pressing anomalies (when they sound good).

It's a simple tale.
The master released in 1993 was digital PCM created by Ludwig with the Litt mixes added in.
Someone in Germany said "send us a copy of the master tape so we can make a vinyl" and some mutant in the US pulled Albini's analog master and then ate a sandwich.
Nobody knew any better until someone played the record and discovered it and it traveled around the infranets.

I didn’t know Albini oversaw the Rooke master; I just assumed that it was outsourced as I would’ve expected Bob Weston would’ve done it. Now I need to give it a whirl!

It was done at Abbey Road and Albini was present and directed the proceedings. He discusses it in interviews.

He was fully hands-on in 2013 except for the added "Live And Loud" which he had nothing to do with (and it shows).

He was smart enough to stay far away in 2023, as should the consumer.

That was the effect Albini wanted and always gets, which was compromised by Ludwig in 1993 by folding in the stereo image and pulling up the center channel to bring the vocals up.
