Remember when The Onion was funny?

2016-2017 playbook incoming

fear of trump tariffs -> tariffs considered inflationary -> market freaks (Fed already adjusting fwd dot plot adjustments based on trump policy expectations)

then trump in office, with Bessent, weakens the USD -> market takes off again

should be frothy by summertime

Yeah hold the line

Hopefully my mom didn’t take like $70k out of the market and plop it into her savings account like last time Trump was President.

Hopefully Trump continues to care more about the stock market than he should. Might be the only chance of reining in some of his worst (economic) policy ideas.

I always heard that charities receive a lot of pennies, but I'm not sure how true that is today.

Small businesses are a pillar of the American narrative, but are they still a pillar of the American economy? The Department of Data runs the numbers.

I miss seeing corner deli's around the suburbs here. Now its all supermarkets and chains.

I guess I shouldn't be a hypocrite though - my exit plan is to sell up my little practice to one of the big players in a few years too.

Which can be painful for a lot of employees. Overnight culture shift, generous incentives gone and constantly changing goals/metrics as the purse strings tighten, disorienting restructuring. I’ve been through it before as middle management, and you end up spending a lot of your time reassuring people.
