Paradise (Hulu)

Post by Ensign9 »

Solid first episode but it’s been a little overhyped. Second episode just okay.

It got pretty predictable by episode 4. I’ll finish the series but it’s just ok

I’m out. Couldn’t make it through the cheese fries scene.

They just talked about Paradise on The Watch podcast and Andy Greenwald opted out at the same scene!

One of the most ridiculous lines ever was uttered in episode 8

What am I missing about the cheese fries scene that makes it a jumping off point?

Cloying, pandering, melodramatic trash. It was only a few seconds before I pulled the ripcord but it was more than enough to tell me it was gonna be another This is Us, a show I would find absolute torture to watch.

My takeaway was to make a plate of cheese fries for my next watch ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Was 7 really that good? I’m slowly starting to be convinced I need to resume watching this thing.

I just watched the first episode. The twist at the end…fuck this. I already slog through Silo.

Bit the bullet and finished this thing. 5 and 6 were good; 7 was very, very good but I’m hypercritical and nitpicky about certain elements of sequences like that. The president is getting dragged onto that chopper. He’s not gonna be given time to have a chat with his staff and the janitor. The Sum of All Fears is a superior depiction of such a sequence. Too many speeches.

That said, the second half of the season was good enough for me to give season 2 a chance.
