Finally watched Cornell doing Footsteps, that was the best thing I've seen him do since that acoustic show from Sweden a few years back. Absolutely chilling.

Flubbing lyrics doesn't really affect how the vocals sound, but they do have a lot to do with the overall appreciation of the song. Since I know the song, I don't care if he repeats the same verses second time around as he did in Wrigley. If you hadn't heard the studio, as we hadn't then, it really didn't affect the appreciation of the song even.
One of his most iconic (maybe the most) performances was flubbed.
Black/unplugged.
People always mention this and I never hear it, what does he mess up?
Neither do I.
he sings "how quick the sun can drop away" twice...which doesnt really matter, bc his voice sounds like it could move mountains.

I re-watched both performances and listened without trying to nitpick. They're not bad at all. Flawed, yes, but still quite good. It's just that they've done better on tour with both songs at various stages. With so many shows under his belt, Ed was bound to not be at his best. But he did a decent enough job. Now they should let him rest.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

I thought all night was pretty great a couple of years ago, but that's the only other really good one i can think of
 Forgot about that and you know what, still haven't watched that yet... *youtubes immediately*
I can't find it. Where did they play it? The last one I remember was Ole on Fallon in 2011.
It was also on fallon the night after they played ole

 Yea, that is pretty excellent. Ha, love The Roots in the back. But I also really like the Ole performance as well, so what do I know?

Between Ole, All Night and Lightning Bolt... I think the more rockin' stuff works better in this setup. Would've liked to see LB the first night and then Getaway on the 2nd day

They should be pushing Getaway instead of Lightning Bolt.

Balls In Your Mouth

does the vh1 tribute to the who count? b/c they owned that shit.
that's about as good as they get.
The VH1 tribute show was the best performance I can remember them doing. Period.

Yeah The Who tribute thing was easily the best TV performance they've had in the last 10 years, with the Austin City Limits show almost certainly the worst.

I didn't feel that either of this weeks performances were terrible or anything, but after watching them i had this overwhelming need to look up their classic Hail Hail performance on Letterman.

Porch and black unplugged, hail hail and grievance letterman and the who tribute are the best TV performances by the band. Ever.
