Do you have a problem with me being in a thread about the US president despite my not living there?BurtReynolds wrote:thanks for capitalizing it.Higgs wrote:I get that the right is rising across the globe and that's whatever it is. Sign of the times, a natural change of direction as constantly occurs, though probably mostly incumbent governments being pushed aside due to simple economics of people pissed off about their money not going as far as it once did. But don't give me this tough guy bullshit. It's pretty embarrassing tbh.BurtReynolds wrote:Yes, I do think a lot of people feel that their actual rights are being trampled, which is why your parties are losing popularity, despite every effort to make voting for anyone else illegal.Higgs wrote:The video you triumphantly posted has Big Ball's JD pointing out isolated cases of government overreach in Belgium, Germany, Sweden and the UK. Who cares? Do you honestly believe the actual citizens of those countries as a whole feel they are having their rights trampled on and their free speech (no capitals there - only the US has capital F and capital S Free Speech of course) squashed?
Last I checked all those countries rank far higher on any quality of life scales than the US does.
I really don't think they need Team America World Police's help combating their apparent woke-uprisings.
But yeah, great vid. JD's really owning those leftist pussies.
I don't much give a shit about what you do in your countries. You do you. My problem, as I said, is that stupid shit being imported here. No fucking thanks. Maybe you, being a big fan of the nanny state, don't mind loss of freedoms so long as your material comfort is preserved, but we are not the same.
And you seem to have decided I am some huge fan of the nanny state - you've said it to me on numerous occasions. I'm too old for it, never been a fan. Personally I'd like the government to leave me the fuck alone. But I don't care if that's what you think, have at it.
I get it - Trump's your guy and he's cleaning house. USA USA. But when you post that shit referencing the EU or wherever it's pretty rank. Like you know the first thing about the struggles of going through occupation or having your homelands forcibly taken from you.
But I guess you'd just say "you should be tougher" or "you should be spending more on defence". It's always nice looking at other people's problems from a position of such privilege and power.
Your frame of reference and mine are very very different Burt. I find some of the shit you post really offensive. But whatever. Free Speech for you and all that.
You're in a thread about the president of the United States despite not living here. It seems a little silly that you take umbrage at me criticizing the idiocy coming out of Europe in return. I don't think it takes a lot of toughness to point out the gaping problems that a lot of Europe has with actual free speech. Luckily there are a few people there who do actually think it's a problem as well.
Post what you want Burt, we're here for discussion aren't we? If it pisses me off I'll say as much. But yeah, you are coming across as all US alpha here and that's kinda weird to me (but perhaps given the state of things over your way I shouldn't be surprised).
You mention the gaping problems that a lot of Europe has with free speech - do you really know that's the case or is it just what you get from your daily twitter scrape? Anders - you live there, you too dime. What's your guy's opinions on your free speech? Do you feel oppressed? JD seems to think you are, I'd be interested to hear your takes.
