The singer I was most shocked by on the night was McCartney. He sounded really old and croaky, nothing like when I saw him live in 2023. :(
Yeah, Paul sounded old for maybe the first time? I've never heard him sound like that.

Age comes for us all no matter how many animals you eat, I guess.
Four performances in six days, the three preceding full sets surely took a toll as well... but yeah, he's eighty-fucking-two.

I wasn't aware of the four in six a few days before. That surely is part of it.

FWIW, I still thought he rocked. The voice was diminished but the performance was still really solid.

The performance was still a winner, I was honestly just startled by how weak his voice sounded.

I'm sure that he wasn't the only person in the room who thought that they may not be around for the 60th anniversary special. :/

I got to see Paul play on the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theatre back in the day (2009). It was one of the greatest days of my life.

Anyway, point is, Paul rules!

I watched the entire episode and I'm wondering why it is that Darrell Hammond wasn't mentioned at all. He was a pretty big part of the show and is currently the announcer. It's weird. Maybe he requested to be left out because of his traumas.

Shane should be the new John Candy. He’s such a great comedy actor. I would love him to make movies like The Great Outdoors and Uncle Buck for the next ten years.

Does Hollywood still make these kinds of movies?

Sandler probably does, but I’m not watching his movies. No, I don’t think they’re being made, and I don’t get it. I think there would always be a market for them - that pg-13 comedy is the sweet spot for me.

The R comedies of this century have run their course. It’s just gratuitous swearing. I’d prefer something like Police Academy - occasional swearing, raunchy situations that are more innuendo than graphic, and an occasional blink and you’ll miss them pair of tits in non-sexual situations. That was my HBO.
