This Ukraine stuff is truly villainous. It's pretty wild to see the USA drop the pretense of being the good guys.

Medicaid? Probably not, they've been against that forever. If they dared touch Medicare, though...
I’m not so sure it would have repercussions, either, but most red states are also heavily reliant on Medicaid funding. But I also don’t think the average Republican voter would have the capacity to understand Republicans harming their well-being. It would just be blamed on Democrats somehow.

But think about who Medicaid benefits. In my state almost exclusively MAGA. It’s truly a bite-the-hand-that-feeds them measure.

I guess DOGE is getting into NASA stuff now and not being transparent about what they are doing. No conflict of interest at all with Elon heading SpaceX.

I had the same question with SpaceX involvement in ATC work. Bringing contractors to work in a federal space without a public contracting process is a possible violation of FAR and it seems that Elon's presence so close to Trump, even if they claim he is technically not a DOGE employee or advisor, is probably grounds for a legal filing alleging illegal contracting practices should some existing business be brave enough to risk the blowback from the administration.

He’s not used to be being spoken back to like that is he?

TRUMP: The NCAA has complied immediately. That's good. But I understand Maine -- is the governor of Maine here?

JANET MILLS: Yeah I'm here

TRUMP: Are you not gonna comply?

JM: I'm going to comply with state and federal law

T: You better do it bc you're not gonna get any federal funding at all

JM: See you in court

T: Enjoy your life after governor because I don't think you'll be in elected politics

I've never understood why this transgender athlete thing is an issue at all tbh. I think it's reasonably similar on both sides of politics that having (and excuse me if I get my wording incorrect) those born male playing in female sports is not wanted.

Given this affects so few why is it even an issue?

I would argue the Dems should simply agree and the result being that that tiny proportion of the population that are transgender simply sit out of sports. I'd think playing sports would be a very minor thing to forgo given all the other shit they must be facing/dealing with.

Dumbest political talking point ever imo.

Can’t remember the exact number but in the US it’s only something like 35 trans people playing sports professionally/representing the country.

But it’s a wedge issue. Just a way in to come for the gays and other minorities and on from there

I don't understand why the Dems allowed it to be such a huge talking point with the election. They could have shut it down but almost played along instead.

I am all for everyone's rights but I think this (and I'm specifically only talking about sports participation here) is not something that was ever going to be a popular fight to have.

Credit to the R's for playing on the D's refusal to actually make a policy position on such a niche issue.

It’s played out the same way across most western countries. A contrived and manufactured moral panic about an infinitesimally small number of the population. If it’s not sports it’s trans people in female prisons. Like of that inscrutably small number of trans people in any country, how many are going to end up in prison ffs? It’s all bullshit

Tell us again there was nothing to Russia owning Trump?
This outlet isn’t reliable unless you’re a burt level kind of far right conservative. But curiously that element of British media (mostly owned by foreign billionaires ) have all turned on Trump. It’s weird.

Hey trag

In an unprecedented purge of the military’s senior leadership, President Donald Trump fired the top US general just moments before his defense secretary fired the chief of the US Navy and the vice chief of the Air Force.

He’s super paranoid about getting assassinated it seems. Some screenshots of texts from him out there from one of the mothers of his kids.

Paranoid is the wrong word maybe.
