What movies are you watching?

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I think that's part of what makes the film so interesting. There's a ton of heartbreaking subtext paired with an often uproariously funny, almost slapstick sensibility, and an unflinchingly fatalistic resolution, all of which serve to contextualize the whirlwind fairytale of the first act as the empty fantasy it is. Each piece illuminates the other. A nuanced and textured film

I certainly don't disagree with any of this. Well said. The specific textures just aren't things that appeal to me personally. Similar to the way Trag can't like Mad Men or Parks and Rec because he hates all the characters, thinks they're terrible people.

And I'd probably argue that it's less nuanced, or at least, less interesting in it's nuance, but that again is taste.

You need to see Starlet and Tangerine. Both of them are so fucking good.

I wouldnt recommend Red Rocket to you tough. Might be a little much for you, specially if Anora was not of your taste.
