T-Rex
So the only song of theirs I really know is Get it On (and there is some HORRIBLE cover of that song that got played at baby gym today). I love that song. Should I check them out? Is that fairly indicative of what they do? And are there other T-Rex songs I probably know, and just don't know that they are T-Rex?

Re: T-Rex
I'd much rather listen to Mark Bolan sing than any of the beatles.
Didn't like the chorus, but the rest of this song was pretty cool. I am intrigued

Try Hot Love. But kill it after 2 mins or life will seem to drag.

Re: T-Rex
so far I really like this one.
I could do without the harmonies/background vocals. Whoever they have singing with Bolan is terrible.
Good advice about 2 minutes, but it was okay. For whatever reason the absurdity of it made me smile

Stip, what you need (what everyone needs) is Electric Warrior. To tell you the truth, that's the only T.Rex album I've heard in full, and elsewhere I've heard some T.Rex singles here and there. But that's where you should start, mos def. They really found their voice with that album.

Yup. "Mambo Sun" is one of the best songs of the 70s and one of the strongest opening tracks of all time.harmless wrote:(what everyone needs) is Electric Warrior.

Re: T-Rex
They started as a folk band, and they had a primarily hippie audience. They then began to start using electric guitars, paint their faces with glitter and become the originators of 70's glam rock, at which point the original folk audience died down, utterly pissed off that they'd sold out. Someone will have to correct me if I'm wrong, but I think their final album is a "return to form" in the sense that it goes back to their older, more obscure folk sound one more time, as kind of a tip of the hat to their old fanbase.

"Metal Guru" has elements of LTRP in it.

So does "Rock On". And "Baby Boomerang."
Fuck Ed, why didn't he let Stone sing it?
