Spent the morning cleaning my brother's house (he and his wife are on vacation so I thought I'd surprise them with a clean house) and watching La La Land.

Neon Demon. Very unrealistic. When's the last time you saw skinny blonde models? These days you have to be 30 pounds overweight with a skin disorder and gap teeth to be a model. Does Refn suck? Yeah kinda. Bunch of cliche nonsense. I love me some Jena Malone though.

I finally got around to Bone Tomahawk. It lived up to the hype.

Olivia Colman crushes it as well. Slow start, but very fun movie.
Agree with all of this. Not quite on par with the first two, but still a solid entry to the franchise.

Felt like watching Idiocracy for some mysterious reason. Pretty good movie.

My main takeaway is that Maya Rudolph is very beautiful.

Anora.

Rewatch. This movie looks stunning. Gorgeous really. Mikey Madison is so fucking good on this. She goes super over the top and then makes this subtle movements and looks.

What a masterpiece.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Had a real good time today with The Monkey. What a silly, funny movie. My only real beef with it is Theo James is too good looking to be playing these two misanthropic fucked up freaks
