the property search has become a real slog. i couldn't even bring myself to look at a couple of some interest today, cuz i just knew they wouldn't work for us.

part of the problem is we did so well finding our current rental, a lot doesn't quite measure up. we're quite happy here, but as previous homeowners, we just have that desire to want something of our own. just gotta be patient.

How long is the lease there? If you are happy there and not rushed to get out, stop stressing about it! Just look casually as you go about life, and the right one will pop up.

yeah..just hang out in a rental while you're happy..you have enough to worry about when you have to set the alarm to watch a brewers game at 2am and just have some time to yourself..

I’m kinda shifting into that gear, but we’ll still actively look for awhile. An education if anything, as we have no real point of reference for this market, and we’ve learned a lot already.

We’ve made some good contacts within the big agencies too. Since we were the runners up to a hot property last weekend, that’s signaled to them that we’re serious buyers. Finally starting to get off market properties sent over, etc.

Welp, we’re off to another auction on Saturday. Our expectation is this place is a bit of a stretch, and will end up going well over what we can pay, but there are some reasons it could land in our sweet spot. We won’t get our hopes up, and at the very least, this may drive home that we aren’t going to find what we’re looking for in this area and need to truly broaden our search.

Curious to see if the recent market dives affect how much buyers are willing to spend right now too.

I made the decision to rent my house out and live in an apartment. It’s nice in a lot of ways. I don’t have to fix anything in my apartment and I just pay my property management company to take care of the house. Plus huge tax advantages for home repairs and maintenance.

Haha, we figured it already, but when we decided to rent out our townhouse, the property manager we hired was very clear that the place would never be the same and we shouldn’t plan to ever move back into it.

It’s okay, I won’t be moving back. I moved out of state. Just going to sit back and collect rent for a while. Then sell and find a new place in my current city.
