Have no idea what it was all about, but when you have Witten and Ware up in your face up are probably in the wrong.

The smartest thing Josh McDaniels did was to pick Demaryius when Dez was still on the board, and then to take Decker in the third round.

if he ever gets his head out of his own ass then he could possibly be as good as Megatron, but equally as important as the physical ability that Calvin Johnson has is the fact that he is not in anyway a Diva and he is totally a Team playerGreen Habit wrote:The smartest thing Josh McDaniels did was to pick Demaryius when Dez was still on the board, and then to take Decker in the third round.

I don't know the play your talking about . The rule is applied In different ways. Usually it comes out concerning fumbles . I don't think your can "bat" the ball intentionally to another player or downfield or something of that nature .Peeps wrote:mcfly?Peeps wrote:someone explain the batting penalty?

It was a terrible call, no matter what speed you watched it you could tell he was trying to get the ball for himself, he wasn't trying to bat it to another playerThejambi wrote:I don't know the play your talking about . Ah I found the play and I completely disagree. I think it was a good call. Looked obvious to me he was trying to keep the ball from being recovered by the Patriot that was near by.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:It was a terrible call, no matter what speed you watched it you could tell he was trying to get the ball for himself, he wasn't trying to bat it to another playerThejambi wrote:I don't know the play your talking about . but isnt that kinda the point. keep the ball away from the other team. what about those scrums that take a few days to pull all the players off. arent they trying to rip it away from someone?Thejambi wrote:Ah I found the play and I completely disagree. Well it's not a penalty if the defender hits it out of a players hands. I think the point of the rule is to keep it so players try to get the ball that's been fumbled, not kick it or bat it downfield just so the other players can't.Peeps wrote:but isnt that kinda the point. keep the ball away from the other team. what about those scrums that take a few days to pull all the players off. arent they trying to rip it away from someone?Thejambi wrote:Ah I found the play and I completely disagree. its definitely a judgment call then and they most likely made the right call, but i felt like he was trying to scoop it in to himself, and there were no dolphins back where the ball was swatted to, but if he wasnt trying to scoop it himself then he might have been hoping one of them would get to it first. but when i watch it i see him just trying to get the ballThejambi wrote:Ah I found the play and I completely disagree. i could see it either way, but i'm pretty sure the rule is in place so that you don't advance a fumble. like an offensive player fumbling it forward (intentionally) out of bounds.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:its definitely a judgment call then and they most likely made the right call, but i felt like he was trying to scoop it in to himself, and there were no dolphins back where the ball was swatted to, but if he wasnt trying to scoop it himself then he might have been hoping one of them would get to it first. but when i watch it i see him just trying to get the ballThejambi wrote:Ah I found the play and I completely disagree. Re: 2013 NFL Season
I'm obviously a Dolphins fan, but I think he was trying to bat it away from the Patriots player, so I guess he did commit the penalty, but it's still a brutal call. It's totally a judgement call and it is possible that when a DL is diving for a football that really awkward things happen and maybe it looks different than what he's actually trying to do. All that said, the penalty should be something to the effect of...from the spot where the ball was batted the worst result for NE would be possession right there. IE, if Miami recovered they still wouldn't get the ball, NE would get it at the spot of the batting. But for it to be a 10 yard penalty AND an automatic 1st down, man that was a back breaker. The punishment does not fit the crime.elliseamos wrote:i could see it either way, but i'm pretty sure the rule is in place so that you don't advance a fumble. like an offensive player fumbling it forward (intentionally) out of bounds.Dr.
