Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
I haven't listened to this album in full in several months. My ranking hasn't changed. I've cooled on every song except the title track, so maybe I'd bump everything else down a half star?

This redux I found on Youtube sounds a lot better than the album.

Enthusiasm still hasn’t dimmed for this one, which bodes well for Juvenalian posterity (cf Lightning Bolt. Sorry Stip).
A highlight is definitely RR’s campy chorus. Ridiculous.

Wild that I've been listening to this a full year already and only just realized that "Waiting for Stevie" is a Ramones cover.

Most of the songs sounded better at the end of the year (in Australia and the 2nd US Leg). I wonder if there is a comp with some of those performances floating around.tragabigzanda wrote:now that's a version of the album I can get excited about! Ed sounds like he's really struggling on the Got to Give chorus, and I'll never get on board with Running, but otherwise those all sound awesome.

I thought it was an Andrew Watt cover.washing machine wrote:Wild that I've been listening to this a full year already and only just realized that "Waiting for Stevie" is a Ramones cover.

Technically you're right, but it's from the Watt era when he toured with The Ramones so I'm counting it that way.Farmer John wrote:I thought it was an Andrew Watt cover.washing machine wrote:Wild that I've been listening to this a full year already and only just realized that "Waiting for Stevie" is a Ramones cover.

I agree, sounds much better. Sure Eddie might struggle a little, but to me he somehow sounds younger.Monkey_Driven wrote:Most of the songs sounded better at the end of the year (in Australia and the 2nd US Leg). Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
The problem with DM is that it's too easily digestible. Like, if I wanted to turn a Foo Fighters fan onto Pearl Jam, I would show them this album.
