The masturbation time from all the beautiful gals I get to practice with? Or just doing yoga in general? Its kind of a package deal.

Whatever I don't really care anyway.

20 miles in 2:28

It was hot and I was tired, but I hit the "I just want to get this shit over with" button and got it done. 75 out. 73 back with a dinky finishing kick. Not a great weekend of running as far as speed goes, but I was pretty much shot for about 30 of those miles. Next weekend is suppose to be my first 20 miles/50K weekend. I'll be ready. It should be cooler and I plan on hitting some killer trails.

Your shitty days are long-term goals for me. Left for my "easy" 8 miles this morning at 8. It was 28 degrees. Not celsius. My thighs were hurting from yesterday's pace run, but I fell into a nice rhythm and finished averaging 8:29/mile, so I was home not long after 9. Tomorrow is my off day. Looking forward to it.

Sick Monday and spent all day downing OJ and echinacea. Actually slept 6 hours last night and woke up feeling great this morning. It was cool, so I had to run with a shirt on. :? Even split. Tiny finishing kick. Nice run. Feel like doing a double tonight, but I probably won't push things and let my body fight whatever bug I have.

20 minutes on the elliptical followed by a light upper body workout. I got in a really good one last night; I normally don't double up after one of those but it'll be a couple days before I could get in another as I'm heading up to Charlotte tomorrow for the concert.

Still battling a slight cold, so I skipped yesterday. It was chilly this morning and it took a while to warm my legs up. Once they were warm, I felt great and I had to stop myself from going balls out. 53 out. 52 back with a quarter-mile finishing kick. Gonna change my work schedule starting next week so I can run AFTER I drop the kids off for school. I'll skip tomorrow and do a mini-carboload to prepare for 20 on Saturday and a 50K on Sunday.

Back into it again. Another mtn bike ride home. Was so foggy had my light pointing pretty much straight down. What should be 50 mins to home to 70 and then nearly a half mile swim. Was just too knackered to finish. This morning was the 15 mile bike into work. Will throw in a mile swim tomorrow and a three hour hike on Sunday that should leave me still sore on Sunday. My goal is to work up to running this hike by spring but we'll see what happens once snowboarding season kicks in.

T2B - I can't believe you'll go ten weeks with no alcohol. Even in my most competitive days, the most I was willing to go as far as alcohol was not get wasted Thursday and then alcohol free on Friday before the Saturday game. I firmly believed in building it up in the daytime to burn it down at night. This has always been my issue with dating some girls heavy in the biking community. It's nice to ride with a girl who can kick your ass and hangs with a lot of Canada's biking team but the serious factor about it just was not my idea of fun. But more power to ya.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

10 miles in 64 minutes

Started my 10 to 6 shift change at work today and just couldn't keep away from the canals. It was nice to get the sun for the entire run instead of just at the end. Felt dialed the fuck in. Solid, but light. A smile the entire time. Even split with a quarter-mile finishing kick. Great fucking run. I want to run forever. 20 tomorrow.

I understand. I have a pretty big goal ahead of me and feel like I'm currently at my peak. I'll be able to run 100+ miles for several years to come, but realistically, I'll never get any faster. I need to maximize the limited potential I have. Honestly, ditching booze for a few months is a small sacrifice. I'm not a very good drunk anyway.

I am impressed as hell. I do not have anywhere near that kind of discipline. I just couldn't imagine a Friday nigth winddown without a glass or two of good red. It seems puritan to me.

Once I stopped playing rugby competively my goal has always been to be able to go balls out for three or four hours and then hit the bar with the endorphins well kicked in. Part of it is possibly that I always viewed solo sports more as part of training for team sports or things I did purely for fun, never any competitive nature about them. I'm 48, I'm happy I can do a tri but just don't feel any need to be competitive about it.

PS. It starts to suck once you're past your peak. Letting go of that competitive nature is tough, very tough.

Yeah, I'm waiting for my competitiveness to subside. I don't race more because I hate losing and it brings out the worst in me. I look forward to being able to just enjoy a race without knocking people to ground and peeing/shitting/bleeding on myself to shave a couple of minutes off my time.

Treadmill pace day. 5 miles in 35:19, which is 26 seconds faster than last weekend. I ran my 3rd mile in 6:53 and then tried to do the next one at 6:40, but i only made half a mile at that pace. That greed cost me, and the last mile and a half was miserable.

20 miles in 2:28

Left a little too late in the day and had to contend with 80+ degree temps. Took it easy in an attempt to save my legs for Sunday's 50K run. I took no water, but forced myself to stop at every canal-side water fountain along the way. I ended up just doubling up on my 10-mile course, so I had 8 water stops in 20 miles. I ate one gel with about 5 miles left. Even split with a dinky little finishing kick. Same finishing time as my last 20-miler. Solid.

15 miles in 1:42

Youngest daughter started getting sick yesterday and spent most of last night hacking, so I had to ditch the early morning trail run to give my wife a break. Got time later in the morning, but skipped the trail and hit the canal again. I also decided on 15 instead of 30. 15 meant I could run and shower in 2 hours. Felt good and my legs were solid with no residual pain from yesterday's 20. Even split with a mile finishing kick to make up for the slight headwind on the way back.

Disappointed I didn't get in my 20/30 this weekend, but shit happens.

Since I still can't apply any pressure on my hand I've been pretty much stuck doing squats, calf raises, some ab exercises and running for the past few weeks.
Saw my trainer today for the first time and we went through the following, which I guess will be my main workout till I can start using my hand again

500 m run
50x walking lunge
20x leg lowers
40 x forward jumps
20 x swiss ball ab rollouts
30 x big box jumps
15 x shuttle run ( first marker to second marker 10 m then 10 m to nxt/end marker
20 x leg press 20wide/20close with 120kg
20 x leg lowers
10 x leg ext ( 10 straight 10 angled out and 10 angled in) with 25kg
500 m run to finish

I appreciate the picture. You say "hit the canals" enough that it could be an RM drinking game, and it's nice to have the visual.

Did 10 yesterday. Took almost 1:25. Bitch ass wind made my last mile look like a powerwalk. Today i did 4 miles outside and finished a few seconds shy of 30 minutes. That was a first. Falling off schedule this coming weekend to hunt white-tailed deer with my old man.
