My MiL offered to pay for a 7 day cruise in the Caribbean this August. Would be me, my wife, whichever of her three kids want to go, and her mom. Given my aversion to cruises, should I go on this? If any of her kids go, I'll go because it might be more fun. But if it is just me, my wife, and my MiL, I might politely decline. Thoughts?

Yeah think I’ll politely decline. Only reason to go is if one of my stepsons or my step daughter goes to have someone to hang with, as i assume my wife will be busy looking after her mom

7 days is too long. If you have to go, try talking them into a shorter cruise

Yeah, having now done 2 cruises I don't think I'll ever be doing another one at this point.

Batchelor time sounds lovely though.

our trip into what surely will be a comedy of errors and half tragedies begins this afternoon. i already noticed that united airlines put the first initial of my middle name on the back of my first name. i know it was them because i looked back at an old boarding pass from january and it showed the same thing. i normally wouldn't care, but i'm worried about security in rome on the way home. so i called united last night, and they said that they would have to reissue the ticket, and it would cost me the difference in the price of the flight now versus what i paid for it back in january (around $3000). i was livid. so my wife called and they said it was their error, they were marking it in my reservation, and if security gave me troubles a united agent would vouch for me. this doesn't portend good things for me.
