That's a great one. I rate Diamond Dogs highly but there isn't a run it would do well in.
You could just tack it onto a run beginning with ziggy. And of course mention the obligatory Berlin/Eno years. I enjoy them but not nearly as much as his previous trio.

Sorry, I meant to say a run it would do as well in. Of the four albums discussed, Ziggy is my least favored, although its still great.

Without a doubt, in my mind, best back-to-back-to-back of all-time.
This is the correct answer.

This MUST be code for Queen 2>SheerHeart Attack> A Night At The Opera, clearly, the best 8-)

And the Bowie fans come out of the woodwork. Where's the thread, Mary?

I'm so glad your Zappa contribution starts with Apostrophe. Easily my favorite.

That Faith No More run could be an object of some controversy. Its either The Real Thing start or Album of the Year finish. I'm not entirely sure I could decide.

Album of the Year is way too hit and miss for me, The Real Thing is a bit of a novelty now but far out those first listens were mind-blowing

Haha well my favourite Zappa album is easily Hot Rats, but being Zappa it's very hard to find a 3 album run where you've even heard all three albums in a row! Just lucky that easily 3 of his best albums were released in a row (rounding out my top 5 would be Hot Rats and Joe's Garage)

I have 50+ GB of Zappa and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that. A lot of his stuff is a once-listen. But I do revisit The Grand Wazoo, Hot Rats and Apostrophe on occasion.

It's funny, The Top is my favourite Cure album but it kind of stands alone in the band's catalogue.
