Went tonight for an early dinner, as reservations are hard to come by. Lived up to the hype.

I had steak frites, and the wife had the oxtail and bone marrow pie. We got an order of sticky date cake to go; we’ll split it later.

Saw on Insta that a restaurant in our neighborhood was being extorted online via negative Google reviews. They asked their followers to file complaints with Google, so they’d take notice, and I guess it worked. Far out.

What was the perpetrator’s angle?

Posting fraudulent one star reviews until they pay them an undisclosed amount of money.

Our favorite family pizza spot has one of those rewards programs that racks up points with your phone number, but the other day the waitress told us that they suspended the rewards system because there was an investigation going on about it. Five employees are suspended while the investigation is happening. We eat there so much that I have a good idea which employees were scamming and skimming. Someone flew too close to the sun and now some manager is having a ball playing detective, I'm sure.

Epic tasting menu at a sushi place last night, where they kept the wine and bubbles flowing.

Scouted out this place near our rental in Paris for their cassoulet, but I may have to go a second time for the duck roll.

Drove around our new place (we move in next weekend) before picking up the kid from her first day of school. Heaps of promising eateries within walking distance. Hoping to contribute this thread soon.

Drove by a pub that has a full on playground in the beer garden. It’s a quick bus ride from our part of town, so we’ll definitely give it a go at some point. Kid mucking around for an hour or two with other runts while we have a meal and sip some bevs seems like a real find. Of course, it could turn out to be like trying to have a relaxing beer at a McD’s play place, but worth a shot.

and also why munich is the best family vacation destination on earth

their ‘central park is’ loaded with beergardens with playgrounds

and they serve delicious food

coincidentally I was just talking about this with my wife on Thursday. There's an industrial zone slated for redevelopment as family-friendly mixed use and I was saying that we needed a beer garden that was both kid- and dog- friendly.
