My favorite local seafood market has a lunch counter, and a few times a year they do a fried shrimp that is really good. Hoping it is this weekend.

It has been since before Christmas the last time they did it, and the big push for seafood is on thanks to Christians and Easter. Last year they did it not long before easter as well.tragabigzanda wrote:why are you so confident on it happening this weekend if it only happens a few times a year

their nephew owns a boat and brings in fresh catch every day

Out of town for work and having supper at the Catfish Galley. I’m having the seafood platter with white beans and fried okra for my sides. This is the kind of hole in the wall place we grew up going to and I love it.

Including me, all of the men I’ve seen have one and maybe one of the women. It is true I have not seen all the patrons or all the kitchen staff.spike wrote:What is the beard situation like at this place?wease wrote:I’m also the youngest person here.tragabigzanda wrote:wease wrote:Out of town for work and having supper at the Catfish Galley. Let’s talk fish. Specifically, the best kinds.
My top free are Grouper, Red Snapper, and Chilean Sea Bass (or Patagonian Toothfish for all the scientists out there).

Id have a hard time ranking fish, as I love most of it. What I eat regularly though is grouper, salmon, cod, trout, mahi-mahi, and swordfish. Oh and flounder.

Texturally, I love swordfish, but it usually leaves me wanting more flavor-wise.

Re: Fish and Seafood Thread
Yeah I won't be able to rank anything, but I find myself eating salmon, halibut, grouper, redfish, and catfish the most.
What I don't like is creamy sauces on fish. Aside from the fact that I can digest it, I find that it doesn't add anything I'm looking for in a fish dish. I prefer to taste the fish, not the sauce. Seems like a ploy to cover up poor quality seafood.
