Man, this entire console generation -- and yes I get that Nintendo tends to operate the PS/XBox generational cadence -- has felt like a real bust to me.
Well, when you think a game like God of War is boring...
I think COVID and the rising costs of development really hampered the first few years of this generation. Seems like too many companies invested in live service games that have largely bombed. It seems to be hitting a stride, however. Look at the release schedule of this year.
If you've never owned a Switch before, the Switch 2 should be worth it on day one for the backwards compatibility alone. Throw in a couple of Triple A first-party Nintendo games and you'll be set for months.

- 3D Mario
- Metroid Prime 4 (upgraded)
- Probably an early Switch game or two with a new coat of paint (ex. Breath of the Wild)
- A ton of ports of late PS4/Xbox One era games
Any chance the new Mario will be given a Switch 1 release as well like Breath of the Wild had a Wii U release?
Very little chance I would imagine. Metroid will likely be that bridge title since it was originally announced as a Switch 1 game.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

yeah backwards compatibility could be a plus. Also games that would be good for my kid to play, as she’s starting to show and interest…
I’ll be paying attention to the event. I may or may not spring for this.
You kid will love the Switch. It's really the perfect system for families.

Pre-orders open on April 9th.
how hard will it be for me to snag one on the 9th?! I'm at a conference all day!
They supposedly have a large stock ready to go, but they will sell out quickly I'd imagine. Sometimes retailers will all go live at once and sometimes it's staggered.

Don't forget, PS5 preorders went live before the date Sony announced. I'd stay on my toes.
