No Binaural love this tour
4 Binaural tunes in Vancouver!!!!
3 Binaural tunes in San Diego!!
Despite the lack of love, we are only missing Rival and Evacuation from completing the album on this tour. The problem is that 7 tunes were only played once, and three just twice. They used the sit down first encore formula to get 4 plays out of Sleight of Hand as the most popular Binaural track thist year.
27 US/NA shows in 2013. Binaural representation is limited to:
Of The Girl - Pittsburgh, Calgary
Nothing as it Seems - Worcester 1, Spokane
Sleight of Hand - Brooklyn 1, Charlottesville, San Diego, Calgary
Grievance - Charlottesville
Parting Ways - OKC
Insignificance - San Diego, Vancouver
Light Years - San Diego
Thin Air - Oakland
God's Dice - Vancouver
Breakerfall - Vancouver
Soon Forget - Vancouver
plus
Sad - London, ONT, Charlottesville
Fatal - Worcester 1
So, in 17 shows, we had 6 Binaural song performances and 3 Binaural outtake performances. Slim pickins there
And, on the 18th show, we had 3 more binaural performances increasing the total by 50% to a new total of 9
Nothing on 19th, 20th, and 21st shows....
One more new one played on the 22nd show (Thin Air) and NAIS played on the 24th, up to eleven total plays of tracks off the album
Two in Calgary
And four in Vancouver, brings it to 17 total plays over 26 shows.
Discuss
edited- added the three binaural tunes from Charlottesville, including Sad
edited - added Parting Ways from OKC. Updated for 17 total shows.
edited- now updated through LA 2
edited - through Oakland now, through Calgary

it and Riot Act are their least well received albums amongst most non hardcore fanshlniv wrote:11 US/NA shows so far this year. Binaural representation is limited to:

If they are going to pick the songs to play from this album/time period, these are excellent choices, but why so few??

Their taste has deteriorated as badly as Ed's voice.

I'm kind of posting in the dark here as I've only been casually monitoring the set lists, but it seems they're not playing much off of S/T either on this tour except for the occasional WWS and Life Wasted. I don't think anything from S/T was played last night in Bmore.

Re: No Binaural love this tour
Looks like Breakerfall was on the set list last night, but not played...
I think Binaural just doesn't resonate with the crowds very well, so they don't take the time to re-learn the songs like they need to. I'd bet the reason they didn't play Breakerfall last night was that somebody didn't remember how to play it.

Re: No Binaural love this tour
I am completely cursed when it comes to this album, which i love btw. Missed the two NC shows on this tour due to a family emergency, ate the tickets and all, and since then, despite having seen 15 shows since then, I've heard less than half of this album. And I've been at some of the big guns, Philly, Alpine Valley, Wrigley, etc. No love for Binaural.

Re: No Binaural love this tour
whenever i see mccready talk about the album, he always seems down. i guess associating this album w/ his own drug problems probably makes him like it a little less, so in turn the band doesnt play it as often. although, im pretty sure they've played 'slight of hand' a couple times on this tour, which i think is awesome. its always been overlooked.
really though, i think this speaks to the quality and quantity of their songs. they seem to put more emphasis on their slower stuff this tour, and it really reminds you how much great stuff they have, slow and fast.

Agree on the McCready thing, but when you burn one up the way he does on Nothing As It Seems, can I hear that shit live please?

They played "Grievance" the other night, right? That's a good song.

This was one of the only albums I had on the road with me from Baltimore through Charlotte. Parting Ways would be epic during the sitdown encores.
I might be able to get to an E-bow.

Re: No Binaural love this tour
I know it's a throat-killer but "Breakerfall" just destroys. They should play that every night Ed feels good enough to do it. And as much love as they give "Nothing As It Seems", you would think they would play it a lot more often. Also, "Light Years" has yet to show up this tour, which I find quite odd.
