Made a couple “minor” purchases this weekend:

First was a PSAudio Power Plant 12 power regenerator. The idea with these is that they pull and structure the power load from your outlet in such a way that you are providing steady, ultra clean power to your gear while also protecting your gear from power spikes/surges. Audio nerds are in two camps about the audible ROI in this product, either “game changing” or “pure snake oil.” We’ll see. But I needed a more robust protection element, and I was able to get a mint used one for less than 1/3 of the cost of a new unit, so I feel it’ll be money well spent regardless of any impact on sound, especially considering the looming impacts of tariffs on this stuff. I will say that our power grid seems to be noisy, insofar as my system tends to sound better at off-hours than at peak hours.

And then I bought a new cartridge for my turntable, a Nagaoka MP-500. Not a cheap cartridge, but my current one is approaching its end of life (and I can hear it), and it’ll be probably 18-24 months before I’m searching for a new turntable; and my turntable and DAC are currently the choke points in my signal chain. This is likely the last moving magnet cart I’ll ever buy as I plan to get into moving coil carts when I make that turntable upgrade.

So, a couple fairly unexciting purchases, but I’m hopeful the cumulative impacts will be audible and enjoyable. Still loving this hobby.

I installed proper stands for my speakers yesterday, and now I feel shame for having them on the floor for so long.

I almost came

Which was to provide an additional receiver for my household and possibly replace my marantz 2238B as i was getting sick of always needing to have it serviced/cleaned up. Im also hoping to have two listening stations. 1 in the basement which will also include tv/movies and 1 in the upstairs living room.

So, sweetwater accidently sent me 2 of them. Do i tell them? Nah.

now i have even more stuff to play with!

I'm afraid I'm going to lose you as a friend, but my current setup is almost intentionally sacrilegious to an audiophile.
I run my turntable, bluray player, and tv through a Logitech Z906 system. I only upgraded the wiring to Monster, and last night set the speakers up on stands.
I know, I know... I've had traditional setups in the past and I do know the difference.
I opted for this setup after listening to it at a friend's apartment, and since I moved into a similar space, it became a good option.
