I agree with all of the above.
Bucky and Liv Tyler were a nice surprise.
The guy that played Isaiah was the star for me.
Mackie and Ford were great IMHO.
I just wish that going into the movie i wasnt aware of the big red reveal. It kind of runied it a bit.

I enjoyed this movie, and maybe part of that was having my expectations lowered by a week of wet reviews.
But can we please discuss that this completely unenhanced individual executes super sonic arial maneuvers and gets thrown around like a ragdoll, but still feels no need to wear a helmet?

The helmet looked dumb. The Air Force uses that same standard. Their pilots wouldn't wear helmets that don't look cool. Don't fact check that.B wrote:I enjoyed this movie, and maybe part of that was having my expectations lowered by a week of wet reviews.

Re: Captain America: New World Order (7/26/24)
1) I think Harrison Ford was a pretty big miscast. He's way too known to slot into an existing character's seat, hence the need to constantly remind everyone who he was supposed to be.
2) It seemed like Sam kept talking about having to fight through racism to get where he is, but that was never depicted (in this or any other movie he was ever in) so it came off ham handed. Like, he's black so he needs to talk about overcoming the system because that's just what black characters do. In an odd way it seems racist.
3) You know how fast food companies will try to come up with new menu items using ingredients they already stock? That's what it feels like Marvel is now. Just a bunch of suits shuffling the "IP" deck and dealing out more shit. Like, nobody in the latest movies came across as a 3D character, just a patented brand on strings.
4) This should have been a Hulk movie. It made no sense to make it a Falcon movie. Kind of like it makes no sense to start referring Falcon as Captain America just because he uses the shield now. Actually, having Falcon walking around with a chip on his shoulder because people insisted on him being Captain America instead of himself could have been a much more interesting angle than the aforementioned shadowboxing with systemic racism.

I think Marvel’s hands are still tied regarding making a Hulk movie. I don’t know what’s stopping them from going the same route as the last one, but that must be something they really don’t want to do.
Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

It must be hard to find stories to cram into a Captain America movie. They've only got 75 years of material to pick from.wease wrote:I think Marvel’s hands are still tied regarding making a Hulk movie. Re: Captain America: New World Order (7/26/24)
ill disagree. this captain america only has about 15 years of stories. then factor in what stories can be told to further the MCU narrative and it really shrinks from there. I liked the idea of the Serpent Society but felt its' execution fell way short of what it could have been. i agree that harrison was a poor choice despite him being a better than average actor.wease wrote:I don’t disagree with you.B wrote:It must be hard to find stories to cram into a Captain America movie. as far as a hulk movie wease is right. universal still holds those rights and marvel isnt going to make a movie not to reap the proceeds. after secret wars they really need to do a planet hulk so they can remind people just how badass the hulk can be

So, it's 15 years. Since he's never had a movie before, they have exactly ALL the stories to choose from. Or they could use a Steve Rogers Captain America story.Peeps wrote:ill disagree. this captain america only has about 15 years of stories. then factor in what stories can be told to further the MCU narrative and it really shrinks from there. Either is a better choice than trying to tell a Hulk story without the Hulk.

i wonder if there was something about having to use the hulk IP every few years or the lose it (like fox with x-men and fantastic four etc) so they came up with a way to shoehorn redhulk into the movie

Just finally got around to this and I really liked it
For how goofy cgi made the leader I liked his character
I do agree they should have gotten a younger actor for Ross, mainly because I want him back as RH
It was a cool little mystery thing, I totally forgot the leader was even in this until he popped up

I saw this on a plane and thought it was pretty bad.
