yeah, it started slow and kinda dull but it turned out to be very fun and poignant. I still feel kinda sad about the ending.
It was sad, but, like you said, also poignant. It really felt like a classic Greek tragedy. And I dig that.

Late to the finale, wife was out of town. Excellent stuff. Agreed on Greek tragedy vibes. Loved this season, maybe my favorite thus far. Best character is still the hotel manager from S1, but overall thought this was the best story and characters.

I was sort of hoping everyone we followed lived just to subvert expectations

Wonderful season. Lots of character development and slow boil before a fantastic and emotional finale.

And now I'm in love with Aimee Lou wood.

The best thing about this season is that now everyone who wasn't already on board before totally loves Aimee. :heartbeat:

Makes me so happy to see her get her due.

Between Aimee getting her due and Oasis touring again, 2025 is the year of the Mancunian

Has this finished yet? Worth watching overall?

People here loved it. I'm glad everyone enjoyed it but I personally found this to be one of the worst seasons of TV I've ever seen. The writing throughout is next-level bad. Characters just plainly stating their motivations and arcs at each other, totally unearned epiphanies, way-too-obvious foreshadowing, repetitive fake-outs, and some of the blandest NPCs ever (curiously, all the locals).

It has some good things going for it. It's a lush and scenic show. The Ratliffs are fun (even though their resolution was ten kinds of bullshit). The cast is good. I liked everything with Sam Rockwell. But gosh, what a tedious season of TV

Yes. I think season 2 is a little worse than season 1, and I think season 3 is a lot worse than season 2.

The drop off in quality also corresponds with how funny each season is

I don't necessarily agree with the quality rankings but the increasing level of cynicism inherent in the show is definitely going to impact enjoyment if it continues.

As a fellow fan of all The Ringer pods, I'm not sure I agree that this season was SO much more cynical than previous seasons. Jo and Rob make their points well enough, but I disagree overall and think their framing (of how to define cynicism) is far too narrow.
