I would love a whole EP, or even a short DVD, of everything from Pearl Jam week

Ed would have had his audience slitting their wrists if Fallon didn't take control of the interview. It's a late night show for fun, not a show attempting to change the world. Relax, Ed.

Basically what I was gonna say. I started getting worried that Fallon was gonna let him get on his soapbox, which he so loves to do. It's a fucking comedy show, "Balls in your Mouth" is how you address serious stuff in the context of an late night entertainment show.15showsandcounting wrote:Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:I do like how excited he gets, but he needs to pay more attention to what the guest is saying so he isn't being silly when they are trying to be seriousStrat wrote:Fallons Enthusiasm was a great balance to the usual curmudgeon found on RM

It's not a funny comedy show, though, so I can forgive Ed for being confused.JDonaldD wrote:Basically what I was gonna say. Yeah, I don't see this serious / silly binary. All of the seriousness led to the balls in the Grammy joke, and the changing of the vinyl covers.Strat wrote:JDonaldD wrote:Basically what I was gonna say. This was a good interview. Ed was funny, he mentioned one charity and a lot of balls.
I didn't think ed was awkward at all and I was expecting the worst.
Jimmy Fallon was rather annoying and loud but its his show.

Re: Pearl Jam WEEK on Jimmy Fallon
I'm still trying to figure out how:
a) Jimmy Fallon has his own late night show
b) The Roots agreed to be his studio band
c) Pearl Jam agreed to play his "comedy" show instead of Letterman (although once 'b' happened, I suppose 'c' immediately became plausible)

I thought the interview was great, he Ed seemed pretty natural and he was sort of very much his vintage self. That short interview had the same humor and storytelling and political bent that he's always showed us. Would've been better if Conan was interviewing him, though
That said, Fallon's show is really well-done, his annoying giddy fanboy suck up shtick notwithstanding.

Although they really should have tons of Xmas single ideas considering they're touring this fall.

I don't dislike him. He's good at the fun segments where he's playing games with the guests, and he seems to put the guests at ease in a Jay Leno-esque way. He just doesn't have the bite of a Letterman or Conan and he's such a suck up, but he's fine enough. But the show is just really well done overall, they know what they're doing over there.theplatypus wrote:Yep. He is the worst thing about his show.Tuolumne wrote: Fallon's show is really well-done

Re: Pearl Jam WEEK on Jimmy Fallon
Came across this performance of Sirens from the 25th of October, Hartford. Ed sounds much better than he did on Fallon. Which kind of decimates the theory that his voice was worn down because of touring. I believe this show happened around the same time as the Fallon performances. Sounds more likely that he just wasn't warmed up on Fallon.

How do you not warm up your voice for a heavily promoted performance at the end of PEARL JAM WEEK on a major network?
