Just watched the Cornell Footsteps video, pretty much catatonic right now.

When I see the mic they used I wondered if it was being recorded for the purpose of releasing it somewhere. It would make a great Xmas single IMO.

Yeah, I don't see this serious / silly binary. All of the seriousness led to the balls in the Grammy joke, and the changing of the vinyl covers.

This was a good interview. Ed was funny, he mentioned one charity and a lot of balls.

I didn't think ed was awkward at all and I was expecting the worst.

Jimmy Fallon was rather annoying and loud but its his show.

I'm still trying to figure out how:
a) Jimmy Fallon has his own late night show
b) The Roots agreed to be his studio band
c) Pearl Jam agreed to play his "comedy" show instead of Letterman (although once 'b' happened, I suppose 'c' immediately became plausible)

I thought the interview was great, he Ed seemed pretty natural and he was sort of very much his vintage self. That short interview had the same humor and storytelling and political bent that he's always showed us. Would've been better if Conan was interviewing him, though That said, Fallon's show is really well-done, his annoying giddy fanboy suck up shtick notwithstanding.

Fallon's show is really well-done

Yep. He is the worst thing about his show.

I don't dislike him. He's good at the fun segments where he's playing games with the guests, and he seems to put the guests at ease in a Jay Leno-esque way. He just doesn't have the bite of a Letterman or Conan and he's such a suck up, but he's fine enough. But the show is just really well done overall, they know what they're doing over there.

Came across this performance of Sirens from the 25th of October, Hartford. Ed sounds much better than he did on Fallon. Which kind of decimates the theory that his voice was worn down because of touring. I believe this show happened around the same time as the Fallon performances. Sounds more likely that he just wasn't warmed up on Fallon.
