Religion makes much more sense to me when viewed through a subjective lens (which as I've already told you, is the only one that exists, not your mythical materialist objective one). Perhaps the older man was stronger, healthier, more intelligent, more independent, and most importantly, more spiritual and attuned to nature (and thus God). But he was hopelessly outnumbered by the brainless, servile, sickly urban fleas that took over.
