On my commute to work this morning, I started No Code from the beginning.

I think "In My Tree" might be a 5 star song.

I also like the sound production on this album as a whole.

Agree! The whole album sounds so good. The transition from Sometimes into Hail Hail always delivers.

I love that transition.

I also tend to come back to No code for that space in the production sound. It fits the rockers Hail, hail, Habit as much as the experimental pieces WYA, IMT, PT.

Ed's voice sounds great too.

Nearly delivered me a heart attack the very first time I heard it and I had the volume all the way up cos sometimes was so quiet :)

Yeah, I’ve scared a few people in my car with it.

I think in a lot of ways, Sometimes and Hail Hail have morphed into "the opener" of No Code for me. They are inseparable. Also, beyond reproach.

Same here, but I attribute it to my driving more than anything else.

The biggest band in the world could’ve started their new album with

BoJ
All Night
Hail Hail

But that jarring transition is pretty cool too I guess.

My favorite part of Sometimes is the end of the first line when Ed finally hits the “t” in “pushing pain………….t!”

Is there an intentional connection from that to the sounds he makes during the last 25 seconds of Hail Hail? Ta, ta, ta, ta, ta….

Any of you No Code fans who would like to see “Hail Hail” win March Madness this year, head on over to the MM subforum and vote! It’s only down by one vote!

Congratulations to above average rocker Hail Hail. You don't just stand out as an early burst of energy on a relatively muted record, but in the hearts and minds of a bare majority of RMers.

Fans of Hail Hail may be interested in checking out the following Lightning Bolt songs that are better than Hail Hail

Mind Your Manners
Sirens
Lightning Bolt
Pendulum
Sleeping By Myself
Yellow Moon

In the coming days and weeks I'll expound on how each of these songs are better than Hail Hail, so watch this space!
