First the traffic was awful as Kendrick Lamar and SZA were playing at the stadium next door. I had prepaid parking and was nervous I was going to miss the beginning. Luckily got to our spot with less than 10 minutes to go. This was the one I was on the floor for. By then the pit was already fairly well full but was able to line up myself up pretty well just off of Ed on Stone's side. First time with GA tickets. It was nice to be up close like that but not used to standing for that long, I could feel the concrete underneath me by show's end. Never felt packed out and I would try for the pit again but not terrible if I'm in the seats either.
I didn't even think about Can't Keep as an opener. They sounded great, both musically and Ed's voice. One of the best Even Flows I had heard in a while. Unthought Known was dedicated to Hank Aaron. In Hiding was a nice surprise, as was Severed Hand. Deep's never been a personal favorite but those last four songs were really tight and well played. Ed barely left the stage at the encore; I guess he took his couple minutes during Inside Job's intro. He may done that garbled mumbling thing he does on Spin the Black Circle but I didn't notice any other lyrical goofs. I could nitpick the setlist but overall I was satisified.
I went with one my younger friends, he turns 25 later in the year. He knew a few songs (Daughter, Even Flow, Jeremy, Alive, a couple others) but I was hoping we would get Black, Just Breathe and Betterman, would have even been okay with Last Kiss. But he said he really enjoyed it and had a great time, commenting on how good they sounded. He also added that his "parents were fucking jealous" he was going to the concert.
He did have his vape taken from him at the door; I swear everyone his ages vapes.
