Netflix: Black Doves

Post by Ensign9 »

Great!

They pulled this off with a high degree of difficulty balancing high drama, action, thriller, and comedy. The cast is uniformly great but Knightley and Whishaw are rockstars throughout. I can’t wait for another season.

Also, I think the finale beat Return of the King for the new number of endings world record.

That's the only problem with the Netflix binge dump model. There's no sustained interest and word of mouth dies so fast. I don't remember anyone talking about the show with much enthusiasm at all (except CR). And what I do recall was gone after about a week.

It's a shame, because this is one of the best shows of last year. Certainly the best of the spy genre. I'm obsessed with it!

There's been some great spy stuff recently. This is great, so was the Agency, and of course Slow Horses is the cream of the crop.

Slow Horses is a lot of fun. Black Doves is better. But it's not really fair to compare them, yet. Black Doves is only 6 episodes. Both are definitely worth your time, though.

Finished this last night. I really loved it. The first half is stronger than the second but the whole thing is solid.

Would love a second season, whatever that might look like.
