100% knew it was andor. Andor is pretty much the bane of his existence and the reason he's never made much of himself in the eyes of empire. Or his mother.

It's great because Andor is all "who was THAT guy?!" Hadn't given two thoughts to him over the years.

Wonderful.

Also, anyone else get a little sad or upset watching and listening to the speeches and the parallels to our world these days? Ugh.

There are so many stories that need to be told during this time frame. Not sure I trust anyone else to tell them so it's super disappointing this is the last season of Andor. Man alive.

yep absolutely no other way to read that moment

He doesn’t know it’s andor. That’s not why he goes for him at all
And that’s obvious if you watch it closely.

If you don’t want to, there’s a podcast interview with the writer Dan Gilroy who wrote the scene posted above ^^ and he says he doesn’t know it’s Cassian and is just acting out of rage that’s built up over a long time. He has no clue it’s cassian andor in front of him.
You’re welcome.

Why are you saying he doesn't know it is Andor? They even showed at one point "wanted" posters the empire had for Andor and Bix. Of course he knows what he looks like.

I really hope that's wrong, because it diminishes the direction of the episode. And not insignificantly.

1. "Who are you" is now meaningless.
2. The shot of Syril and Cassian narrowly missing each other earlier is pointless.
3. Absolutely no reason for Syril, while totally disoriented to recognize AND say "hey that random guy is shooting at the window that my girlfriend might be near"
4. Would make Syrils realization that the empire was bad entirely pointless (you know, his whole arc this season).
5. Andor and Cyril being in the same space makes sense in the story. Encountering each other makes sense. Syril attacking a random guy, that happens to be Cassian? A HUGE coincidence that is hard to overlook.

Dime. Were you drunk while listening? Here's is the transcript from the interview you linked to;

“t seems like he's going that way. He could have repented, but of course, the one thing that stops him from becoming a rebel is that you complete his character goal of finding Cassian, which he's wanted to do since season one. And of course, you guys had your fun with it because they walked past each other for a moment earlier and are completely unaware of each other.”

"“When he spies Cassian, what we just talked about about him being emotionally vulnerable and maybe could wake up. I think when he sees Cassian, it's this primal, animalistic, this was my goal, this is what I was going for. And as we were working on it, I was thinking that he might have been imagining at that moment if I get this guy, Deirdre is going to be proud of me.”

"“At that point, Cyril kind of seems to recognize how insignificant he is in the greater scope of things in which, you know, his mark doesn't even know who he is. Talk about that moment and then Rylance, you know, rising up and shooting Cyril right at the right exact moment to save Cassian's life.”
