PJ Songs You'd Like More If They Were By Another Artist
I think about this a lot...
Sometimes there are PJ songs I'd like to hear covered by someone else. The Mynabirds coving 'Sunburn' comes to mind. Or Jason Isbell doing 'Off He Goes.' That's not what I mean here.
For example: 'Force of Nature' is a song by PJ that doesn't hit for me, but if it was a Garth Brooks song, I'd goddamn love it!
So, are there any PJ songs that you think are mediocre by PJ that would be improved if they were by another artist?

Drifting. It’s a great song, but sticks out like a sore thumb, even on Lost Dogs. Any alt-country band would elevate it.
Also Garden. The opening guitar like it should be a post-rock riff. I could see a Mogwai song starting that way.

What artist do you think would be best suited to Drifting?
I only ask because, in the context of this thread, I like Drifting and think Ed's version is fine. I can't think of an artist that I would automatically assign that that song to that would be better. Again, a ton of artist could cover it just fine, but what I'm talking about is different. There's no other artist I can think of that Drifting "belongs" to.

Come Back. Not a fan but when they were playing it last night, I thought it might not be so bad if someone else did it.
Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

Sure wish a band would take all those late stage PJ punk numbers they insist on doing and just take them away.
Any band. Just take them away and keep them.

Hmm, fair points. I was thinking the Lucinda Williams strain of country artists would do it well.epilogue wrote:What artist do you think would be best suited to Drifting?

Guns n Roses - The Fixer
Beyonce - Sirens
Busta Rhymes - Sweet Lou
Bad Religion - Lightening Bolt
I love "Waiting for Stevie" but I heard Stone talk about how it was Andrew Watt's tribute to Soundgarden, and ever since I heard this comment I want to hear Chris Cornell sing it

Now playing in my head is Axel Rose belting out
" I'm gonna see my friend
going to see my friend , make it go away
I'm sick of everything
going to see my friend
make it go away"
Can you hear that?
