weird. I saved it to my phone, and it says Dolby atmos, but it does appear to be gone from the catalog. Maybe it was put out prematurely, and they pulled it back.Farmer John wrote:I also don't see it, and also hate the apple music navigationstip wrote:couldnt find it. apple music navigation sucks

I'd call this a coin flip on being right/wrong for me. Some days yeah, some days nah.wease wrote:Binaural-Riot Act > No Code-Yield
There. I said it.
However, No Code -> Yield -> Binaural -> Riot Act is absolutely unrivaled.

I'll go on record with this:Monkey_Driven wrote:The Light Years --> Sleight of Hand stretch of Binaural is arguably the strongest/most diverse run of songs in their catalog. It easily beats DM stuff. What are we even doing here?!
The back half of Binaural (starting at Insignificance) is way, way better than the front half.

Light Years through the end really, because Parting Ways is phenomenal. I get Soon Forget is goofy, but it is a needed antidote to the weight on this album.lvc wrote:I'll go on record with this:Monkey_Driven wrote:The Light Years --> Sleight of Hand stretch of Binaural is arguably the strongest/most diverse run of songs in their catalog. Soon Forgrt is a cute little bside. It baffles me that they’d put it on the record, though, considering the other material they had on hand.

The only song I don't really care musically is God's Dice, but thematically is in line with the album.

Yeah, this for me too. Those four albums are the peak of the band's creativity and where they found their unique and inimitable sound, in my opinion.lvc wrote:I'd call this a coin flip on being right/wrong for me. Some days yeah, some days nah.wease wrote:Binaural-Riot Act > No Code-Yield

I love me some Binaural. Always an album I can revisit in new ways. Especially when you include the Lost Dogs. Binaural + Sad, Fatal, In the Moonlight, Education might be my favorite album. The only misfit to me is Soon Forget. Its not a bad song in and of itself, and I understand obviously what Eddie is trying to say, but it comes across a little arrogant to me. I think on the Binaural tour he referenced Bill Gates, who is obviously very rich, but also one of the most philanthropic people ever. So this tune missed the mark to me. B-side material. Otherwise phenomenal. Surprised Stone has said he didnt love this album.

I know I've said it before (bunch of times) but the Binaural b-sides and outtakes are ridiculous.

100%. I understand the idea that the very beginning of the album feels slight, even if I don' personally agree - but really from Evacuation on, it feels really remarkable, and is one of their albums I'm still able to go back to and find new things, more than 20 years after hearing it.liebzz wrote:Light Years through the end really, because Parting Ways is phenomenal. Re: Binaural: Official Album Thread
I think one of those reasons is likely that between Ed's writer's block, Mike's personal issues, a new drummer and a new producer they seemed to butt heads with a bit, this album sounds like it may not have been particularly fun to make. I'd imagine their view of the records they made would have to be colored by the experience making them.jtmack20 wrote:I love me some Binaural. Always an album I can revisit in new ways. Re: Binaural: Official Album Thread
Binaural is a great record, but it's really inconsistent. All of us have our own perfect versions --- for some it's as released, for others it includes some of the outtakes, etc. I've really grown to appreciate the album and the sessions all around. But it's still a tricky album. The mood has to strike me just right.
But whatever else, we have In the Moonlight and Insignificance and Thin Air and Rival. And I wouldn't trade any of those songs for anything in the world.
