Without a kid (like yesterday, when my mother watched my daughter at her place and in playgrounds for half the day), I find that watching a movie at home on a good setup, is excellent. No disturbances, very comfortable, can pause if necessary (bathroom break).

This discussion opened a weird can of worms. I can see the merits of both going the theater to watch a movie, and watching at home on a good setup.
As an aside, I thought Oppenheimer was tops!!!!

I almost exclusively go to movies on Tuesday afternoons by myself; cheap movie, cheap popcorn, and almost nobody else in the theater

Re: Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER (2023)
I was part of a group (of friends, with some friends of friends), that went to the cinema more or less every week for the majority of the 2010s decade. We could be as few as 2-3, usually around 7-8, and at most around 20-25. I eventually quit, because it collided with other activities. It then branched off to a new group, which I was an active part of. But after getting a kid (plus it was the covid years), I had to tell them no, more often than I said yes.
Going alone is probably better. No fuzz, no talk, not meeting up, do what you want, can go on a quiet night. I can appreciate that. Just not a realistic option in my life now.

Yeah, I go by myself about half the time. I went to see Locked on Friday and I was literally the only person in the theater.
Of course I watch movies at home more often than I go to the theater, but the big screen is definitely my preferred moviewatching method. I've posted this before but my chances of liking a movie tend to go up when I watch it on the big screen.
