Re: Movies that could maybe use a remake
One of my all-time favorite movies is The Burbs. Another is The Great Outdoors. Neither need a remake, but an updated version of both could be fun. I miss the 80s comedy format so much.

The Hobbit could use a do-over.

Not a movie, but Sliders was a nice little show that could make a comeback.

Re: Movies that could maybe use a remake
There are some classic movies more people should see (I'm thinking of movies from the 1930s-40s), but I'm afraid they couldn't pull of making the new version as good in acting. If they did Casablanca, the sets would look better, the city and the setting would be improved, and other technical aspects could far exceed the original. But could they get the feeling and the acting to top the first one? Almost certainly not.
I do think a remake of the Skywalker-movies of Star Wars (episodes 1 to 9) could be done, if the right people were involved. No subverting expectations, just making them brilliantly throughout. But only the best of the best could be involved, for it to be on the level it needed to be. Denis Villeneuve or Christopher Nolan for all nine movies.

I can't think of two men less suitable to Star Wars than Nolan and Villanue.

That The Last Jedi guy is the worst possible choice, these two are the best.epilogue wrote:I can't think of two men less suitable to Star Wars than Nolan and Villanue.

Re: Movies that could maybe use a remake
I’m talking about making the best movies ever, like Star Wars the original trilogy, or The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. You need supreme excellence, the best of the best, to make it so. Not another MCU, the Hobbit movies, or Star Wars sequel trilogy standard. Something that will blow most people away, and be universally loved.

Re: Movies that could maybe use a remake
If the original Star Wars trilogy is already at that level (your words, not mine) why do you think it should be remade?

I think with the right vision, and the right budget, and the right director, and the right actors, we could get a better nine movie version of that great story. But it might not happen for another 10-20 years. The OT is closing in on 50 years old.

I'd consider re-publishing The Bible with this as the final word in the book of Revelation.Jorge wrote:Let Star Wars die. We've had enough
I'd enjoy a remake of the man with no name trilogy (Fistful of Dollars, A Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly) that had a more modern pacing and maybe rolled the dice on having the Mexican/Latin characters portrayed by people from Mexico/Latin America. But who could rise to the level of Clint Eastwood in that role?
