casual fan here
i thought the concert and setlist were exceptional. teen jesus and the jean teasers, aside from iggy pop, were probably the most memorable of the open acts i have seen since 1998. I will be checking them out on youtube for sure. i thought they had great energy and stage presence and the crowd work was good considering they were on tour with PJ. i would have to think that would make ones sphincter tighten up.
i dont think i have really listened to any of the material off the last two albums but those songs piqued my curiosity. (running, scared of fear, dark matter, wreckage, future days, setting sun)
was great to hear nothingman , faithful, once and hunger strike. while i have seen faithful performed before it is just such a great song to me. i figured there would be some kind of soundgarden/temple of the dog song since Chris's passing fell between the two shows the only surprise was they did have anyone come out to sing with ed.
i was curious about the hype guy behind mike. seemed he played the guitar to keep the band going whenever mike was switching guitars. i thought the show itself was great with the swirling colors and shapes behind them. i cant recall which song it actually was but where there was just the shadows of the band on a yellow background was a great effect.
during do the evolution any ideas what anime that was from? i havent watched the video in a while but i dont think that was it.
rearview mirror was a great way to end the "set"
i am convinced he did not sing lukin. sure they played it but i could probably listen to that song at 1/10 speed and still not keep up.
i thought RitFW was the end then mike played that familiar intro
and then i saw them switch guitars after that and into little wing (first time i have ever heard it)
i keep thinking of the saying, comparison is the thief of joy and that is very topical seeing some of the reviews. it is easy to play the game of i would have taken that song off and played this one. i seriously doubt anyone lost any joy from the concert because even flow was played. by the way the intro to even flow was phenomenal. they even played it on DVE this morning and it was goosebumps again.
it was great to meet up with daft at the yard. he and his buddy seemed to have charmed the waitress with their midwestern ways. I left them to their devices and walked to the arena. was texting with jimmymac along the way. met up with my friend who got me the tickets and then hung out with jim for about 30 minutes or so. if anyone had ever seen our interactions way back when (him philly and me pittsburgh) youd think those two meet up and peeps is getting his ass kicked. couldnt be further from the truth. he actually likes sheetz and he will probably tell you i am not as annoying in person. i am pretty sure we were in suites that bookended our level (with mrs kneetunes somewhere in between)
both of my ticket takers had to bail at the last minute so i was prepared to eat the 660. when i texted my buddy i was ready to come in he and his friend i was buying the tickets off of came down and got me. brad asked if i was alone. he said then you are only paying for one ticket thats not fair to you and also you are joining us in our suite. totally flabbergasted. at my age i was looking at the people in GA and the floor and all i could think of was, you people my age how are you going to hold in your pee while your down there? ahh the perils of getting old

I think they’ll play Ohana in 2026, maybe the Sphere shortly after that, and that’s it until 2027. Then they’ll play ballparks and the stadium in Missoula again that summer with no new album but with the release of Lost Dogs 2. We’ll see a few of the songs we’re not allowed to discuss inserted into the setlist and minds will be blown. Next new album will be their last, and PJ 40 at the Gorge will be their end of what has been a pretty marvelous journey.Monkey_Driven wrote:Something tells me we won't be seeing these guys until a fall tour in 2026 or even 2027.

That seems like a pretty definitive position but it's hard to argue with some of the principles.
We know the position of some wrt to touring(Jeff!). That said, they have always been compelled to tour to support those who make a living based off of the entity that is Pearl Jam. Has that changed? Some? Do they give them to find something else to latch onto? Have they already?
Like everything else in life, it feels like covid threw schedules off kilter and the course has never really been "corrected".
I can't seem them doing the Sphere though?

i couldn't see them playing a target commercial. and they did.
i couldn't see ed using a teleprompter. and he does.
i couldn't see them charging $180 for the worst seats in the house or $1000 for Pearl Jam Premium tickets, and they do.
i can't see them playing the sphere. and they will.

So, some chords and alternative lyrics. Does that count as having played Comes Then Goes?wease wrote:It’s what the Pit reported he sangB wrote:Is that a lyric?wease wrote:I wish you could come back again.Monkey_Driven wrote:Oh shit. I wonder how long/what was included?

Absolutely not, considering those aren't even lyrics from the song.B wrote:So, some chords and alternative lyrics. Bluesky was very quick to call me wrong when I stated that they played a whole tour without touching Gigaton.Monkey_Driven wrote:Absolutely not, considering those aren't even lyrics from the song.B wrote:So, some chords and alternative lyrics. "So, some chords and alternative lyrics" and "those aren't even lyrics from the song" were frequent PJ descriptions from about 2013 through 2022.
"The fatal flaw of all revolutionaries is that they know how to tear things down but don't have a f**king clue about how to build anything."
