I must not get SW because I thought this was about perfect. Finally finished it last night.

Cassian and Mon Mothma have rocketed to the top of my favorite SW characters.

Yeah, Mothma is an all-tmer for me now, too. Jus wonderful.

The show is fantastic. I have quibbles (chief among them that this isn't really "Star Wars" to me) but none of those quibbles really matter at the end of the day.

This dude loves space wizards and laser swords.

That's fair. I guess what I mean is just that if you took this out of the Star Wars universe, it's the same show. Nothing about it "requires" Star Wars.

For me, Star Wars is a combination of the new and the old. It's also a combination of real world politics and pulp entertainment. I think Andor misses big time on the pulp stuff. There's no whimsy. No fun. No absurd dialogue or serial adventure quality. Which isn't a bad thing, but it keeps it from feeling intrinsically "star wars" to me.

One of the little things I really liked was when they showed the empire moving around the barriers, and they're clearly very very heavy, then the KX droid kicks it like it was nothing

This is an interesting thought. There were a few times watching Andor where I was reminded of Battlestar Galactica and The Expanse, but the nature of how the Empire is depicted remains uniquely Star Wars to me. I think scenes with K2 in S2 did have some of the whimsy you mentioned, but I agree the tone and structure of the dialogue does set it significantly apart from most of the IP

I think the sequel trilogy held onto "your" Star wars, and it started to dwindle their fan base. If Star Wars is going to keep making stuff, we're gonna need different flavors. It's a big galaxy. The whole thing can't be whimsy and fun.

I'm not saying anything you don't know, I'm just saying I'm okay with it. I'm also hoping to move on from whatever the fuck dime is doing.

Oh totally. I hope it's clear in what I said earlier that I agree. I love having a bunch of different flavors. There's plenty of room for all of it.

Hopefully people will remember that when it's the other way around.

I was just saying that one of the only nit-picks I can think of to criticize the show is that it lacks some Star Wars ingredients that I love and personally find essential to what Star Wars is.

It's a great show regardless of or maybe even in spite of Star Wars, not because of it.

Also, K2 isn't whimsical. Sarcasm isn't whimsy. But I did like him in the series was more than in Rogue One, where I find him kind of insufferable until his death scene.

This captures the vastness of the SW galaxy very well. It also perfectly showcases the mixture of analog and digital technology that gives SW its unique style. Both of those are just as crucial as the pulp and whimsy of the OT trilogy.
