I remember reading that a year or so ago. Maybe this is the same thread.
It is the same thread. And yes. These mouth breathers believe Pearl Jam wouldn’t be good if they weren’t in the front at every show. I remember one lady who was quite emphatic about it. I’m about to dive in and see what updates to the thread I’ve missed.

That would actually make sense. Front row PJ people seem to run out of energy before the shows.
They just stand there writing down setlist notes and begging for a pick or tambourine.

Ugh. How long before Pearl Jam embraces this “Dudes In The Front Row” ticketing scheme?

Thanks Phish, for giving Ed this fucking idea.

Good grief, it's exhausting just reading about all that drama; I can't imagine actually trying to plan and navigate my experience of attending an event around it. The upper bowl has its minuses, but a healthy distance from all that front row/pit/rail soap opera feels increasingly priceless.

At this point I'm for it. Just to get some of those stalking weirdos out of there. I wish they'd go back to rows all the way to the front with lottery again.

It is getting a little heated in that thread. I'm sure it will get locked soon, can't believe it hasn't already. People are wanting the person's name dropped. That will definitely get it locked.

That'd be a fun idea, but no matter what you price it at, it's going to be the same people. All those campers are just rich people who can take weeks off work to follow the band around and camp out. There weren't any fans from Raleigh who have just been waiting to see the band.

They should randomly award 50-100 rail-rider tickets to people in GA. Rope it off until the show starts to they can even hit the merch stands, get beers, and pee.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

A post on the pit said how it works for Springsteen is that everyone is given a number when they pick up their wristband and told to line up a certain time. At the admission time one of the wristband numbers is randomly selected and that person becomes the start of the official line. Seems like a reasonable system.

Reasonable means Pearl Jam will come nowhere near even close to this idea.

Think of how bad ass it would be to show up and find out you were just gifted the chance to hang on the rail.

Thought I'd check in on the Pit thread, not much else has happened. Although they did talk about how someone was at night one of GA in Pittsburgh, and after the show, rushed out to camp in line for night two. I love Pearl Jam, but to do that is a little stalky/obsessive to me.

I've been going to shows since 1998 and this past year (2024) was the first time I've ever been on the floor (not the pit, just floor seats). It was a great experience because I'd never had it before. But that show at MSG was not the best PJ show I've ever been to. I can't imagine being "on the rail" would have changed that.
