People are complaining about how a few old sitcoms have been poorly "AI enhanced" and how the syndicators are rolling it out right now like it's the best shit ever.

A lot of talk about aspect ratio, which I don't really care about, but to lesser extent how weird and nightmarish everything looks.

Supposedly they're streaming them to show them off, but I just watched 30 seconds of the episode of Roseanne with Vicki Lawrence, and apparently they have hit standard cable now too.

I haven't seen anything like this yet, but I recognized it instantly.

The text on Dan's hoodie is unintelligible hieroglyphics from the planet Zorgon and Jackie's eyes are floating around in their sockets. Movement has an odd jelly-like quality. It's highly disturbing.

What the fucking fuck.

It's streaming on Peacock but has hit general cable TV now too.

Besides the garbled text and floating/melting/plastic body parts, they have also cropped the image carelessly in such a way that key visuals making a scene funny are now gone.

And the standard added bonus of deleting material to make room for more Lume advertisements, depending on the platform, has now been supplemented with a revolutionary new "random speeding up" effect to make scenes move along faster.

If anyone remembers DJ's boy scout uniform that said "CONNOR", here's an example of what you will always see when there is text.
In the few nauseating minutes I watched, it affected Dan's Bears hoodie and a book someone was holding:

They've done a Cracker Jack job.

Of course idiots are saying "I love it" and "I don't see it" and "who cares Roseanne is a Trumptard" and "get a life", but it still pisses me off.

And it's not only Roseanne... they're merely using that show as an example of how awesome it is and what's to come.
