Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

U wot m8? What's your beef with R&S?
It's not bad, but it doesn't hold a candle to Leftism
Just gave R&S a listen, and my above belief still holds. If anything R&S is worse than I remember

Oh I dig soundtracks!
I have a few to add to the mix.

Rocky IV (1985)
I very recently got my hands on a decent copy looking for something to fill the mailer I had already paid for (discogs).
I was instantly 6 years old, chugging raw eggs, trying not to gag. I still like Rocky movies now, they're nice time capsules.
Love the soundtrack even more nowadays though "Eye Of The Tiger" "Hearts On Fire" "No Easy Way Out" "Burning Heart".
I grew a mullet just typing those titles. Vince DiCola's instrumentals slap so hard, I even thought about doing some sit-ups.
But my beer said "nah".

Great Expectations (1997)
The movie might be a watered-down modern adaptation that doesn't hit all the marks, but I like it anyway.
The soundtrack, I think is a very different monster. Scott Weiland's "Lady Your Roof Brings Me Down" is perfect.
The whole movie is filled with really great song choices, that seem tailor-made for the scenes they're used on.
Pulp's "Like A Friend" while chasing after Estella.
Iggy Pop's "Success" during Finn's gallery expo.
Chris Cornell's "Sunshower" in the garden with the fountain.

Metropolis (2001)
I'm anime illiterate. I've watched maybe 10 anime movies, and I can recall maybe 5 of them. I need to watch more.
I watched Metropolis based on a recommendation, and I loved everything about it, but most of all its soundtrack.
Toshiyuki Honda's color pallet is W - I - D - E ... In this soundtrack we get his take on old-timey, ragtime jazz.
Ray Charles' "I Can't Stop Loving You" plays during a crucial scene in the movie, but it's not on the soundtrack.
That tiny sin aside, Toshiyuki's tracks are pure ear candy. Standout track: "After All".

I Am Sam (2002)
Sucker for covers. Beatles covers when done right, doubly so. I kinda liked the movie when it first came out.
What made me come back for the re-watch was the soundtrack. There's not a single clunker on the track list.
Sounds pretty awesome from top to bottom. If I had my way, I'd swap versions of "Across The Universe".
Rufus' version is great, but Fiona's is perfect.

Echo In The Canyon (2019)
Speaking of covers, I have a small separate rack that holds about 30 records I use as a heavy rotation/new arrivals section.
And this one is always there. Curiously before watching the documentary I only knew 3 tracks (Beach Boys / Monkeys).
Most of these song versions were my first listen, though they all kinda "rang a bell" in my subconscious. No skips here.
Josh Homme can harmonize like a mf by the way... Those last 2 tracks are perfect. Watching Neil Young playing at the end :nice:
I stitched "Expecting To Fly" & "What's Happening" into a single track so I'd never get one without the other on shuffle 8-) .

Stubbs The Zombie (2005)
I'm no gamer, but something about a zombie named "Stubbs" subtitled "Rebel Without A Pulse" sounds like something I'd play.
Soundtrack's concept is simple: Mostly golden age Rock & Roll songs covered by a bunch of indie darlings. And it delivers.
Granted, The Flaming Lips doing "If I Only Had A Brain" sounds exactly like how it sounds in your head right now, but...
Cake doing Sinatra's "Strangers In The Night" is like comfort food. Same goes for Death Cab For Cutie's take on "Earth Angel".
That vibe is present from start to finish with Ben Kweller, Raveonettes, Dandy Warhols, Rogue Wave and more, and is just tasty.
I had never heard Clem Snide's music before, but their take on "Tears On My Pillow" became my song of the summer that year.
Shit, that sounds sad but it's actually a happy sounding version.

Interesting. Don’t remember that. Living in America was the big takeaway from that one I remember. Still dig that one.
