This season was pretty wonky. Some really compelling stuff and then some really boring stuff

I thought this season was really well done. I was never bored. Chris’s voice at the end of the finale really got me.

Well…at least they ended the season in the correct spot relative to the game.

The whole thing lacks the intensity and craftsmanship of the game, though, all via self-inflicted plot choices. It’s just an inferior product and it didn’t have to be.

And don’t get me started on that rogue wave sending Ellie all the way to the Scar island (which doesn’t happen in the game) for no discernible reason.

See you in 2027.

Clearly it was a reference to Pearl Jam’s “Big Wave”

This really took me out of it to. That whole chain of events made no sense. Did Abby have the noose-induced bruising on her neck when we met her before or is that something we will see in S3?

I need grunge-adjacent classics injected into my TV shows to validate my taste in music.

Nah but for real, that song is absolutely incredible.

I'm not sure the logic of making a show where your lead is an unlikable, selfish, largely incapable, irrational brat was the right call. It might work just fine in the game (which I've never played) but on the show they have not written anything that makes Ellie feel in anyway someone to root for in season 2, or even compelling. I find myself rooting for her to die so Deena, Tommy and Jessie could just go home

I like Ellie. She's a livewire of pure emotion, and she fumbles the ball a lot, but I find her very interesting. To me she wasn't the problem. I just don't think the story is that good or interesting compared to season 1

I think a character like her would work for me if the story was good or interesting. When the whole season is essentially on that character with a plodding, paper thin story, I want to actually enjoy watching the character, or at least root for them. From the moment they saw that Seattle is basically an army base, her determination for retribution just felt like selfishness.

Sounds like there’s a lesson in there

People are messy, and they behave in messy ways. Ellie is shitty, but true.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
