Look I lost interest for pete's sake. That's got to be attributable to some pithy generalization about the band and not due to complex reasons, OK? Oh KAY>

I couldn't even finish the first track of Thom's new solo record. I'm sure it's interesting and whatever and someday I'll be in the mood for it. But...

Yeah.

It's probably really interesting, but I just wasn't in the mood/right head space for it. I literally couldn't get through the first track.... :(

But I'll try again when I'm in a different mood/headspace. Because it feels like something I should enjoy.

To be fair it's not really a Thom solo album. It's a Mark Pritchard album with Thom's vocals

Good point.

So then, I couldn't even finish the first track of Mark Pritchard's new album with Thom Yorke on vocals. I'm sure it's interesting and whatever and someday I'll be in the mood for it. But...

I think it implies he is skeptical that he will someday be in the mood for it

I imagine the rest of the sentence was going to be: [But] "... today this album isn't for me."

Well I currently am in the headspace for this album, and fellas, it slowly and gradually blooms between the ears.

Perhaps it's Pritchard's sound (I'm unfamiliar beyond this) but it doesn't have that thing that other Thom solos have where it feels laptopy and bare. Feels more like Kid A era radiohead with electro/organic string and synth flourishes.

Ice Shelf and The White Cliffs especially are especially doing it for me.

I've tried a few times to get into this Pritchard/Yorke record but it's really not my thing: too ambient and directionless, a real absence of interesting rhythms or inspired vocals, and very few opportunities for me to engage emotionally with the material.

Much less rewarding than most of Yorke's other non-RH work, can't ever imagine reaching for this one over The Eraser, Anima, Amok or Tomorrow's Modern Boxes.

Laptoppy is an excellent adjective. The correct adjective.

That's a clever term, but Kid A era Radiohead is the worst Radiohead. They went from one of the pinnacles of 90s rock in OK Computer to a smoke alarm with words. Guitary to Atari.
