I thought the season was great up until the finale. I was pretty underwhelmed by how it wrapped up.

Just finished it and yeah a little underwhelming. It's cool that he went through all that, but it didn't make for the most entertaining experience for the viewer.

I would bet money I'd be worse than he was in training.

There's some credible analysis on Reddit of both the show footage and the log of flights that day that make a credible case for there being two flights:

One with Nathan flying and landing an empty plane. Just him, the co-pilot, and maybe a third pilot in the jump seat of the cockpit.

And one with that more experienced pilot flying and landing a full plane with Nathan hiding in the cockpit. So it looks on TV and to the actors like Nathan landed the full plane but he didn't

That’s perfect, as the whole show is a commentary on how unreal reality TV is.
