It's fact that influencers are briefed on talking points by political groups (I once sat in on a White House influencer briefing regarding the Ukraine war and it was, of course, just US/NATO propaganda disguised as helping them "inform" their followers). I don't doubt that the people spreading/popularizing this stuff are just useful idiots, but I do think these things are originating from somewhere and for a purpose.
